Save The Date: September 19-23, 2021
The 77th UE Convention will be held in Pittsburgh, PA, September 19-23, 2021. This year’s theme will be “Leading Through Tough Times.”
In a letter to UE locals accompanying the official convention call, UE Secretary-Treasurer Andrew Dinkelaker wrote that this theme “reflects the incredible challenges that UE members, leaders and staff have faced and prevailed over during these difficult times.”
UE’s General Executive Board met in early May to decide whether to hold an in-person or virtual convention. After reviewing the latest information and trends about the progress in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, the GEB made the decision to go ahead with plans for an in-person convention, while taking all necessary measures to ensure that the event is safe. The GEB will reconvene on July 19 to evaluate and finalize the decision to continue planning an in-person convention or, if circumstances dictate, to switch to a virtual convention format due to COVID-19 restrictions. All locals will be notified of the decision that week.
The convention call and delegate credential forms were mailed to UE locals on Thursday, May 20, along with information about the hotel, transportation options, and the local union subsidy program, a copy of the anti-harassment policies and procedures, and a guide to writing resolutions for the UE convention. Electronic copies of all convention-related information can be found on this website at www.ueunion.org/convention.
