"We the United Electrical and Machine Workers of District 6 stand in strong support of the International Worker Justice Campaign to gain collective bargaining rights for public service workers at the municipal, county and state levels throughout North Carolina.

Currently, N.C. General Statute 95-98, enacted in the 1950's, makes it illegal for collective bargaining agreements to be made between employers and its employees. As a result over a half million public sector workers in N.C. are trapped working for employers who have the legal right to maintain absolute control over benefits, working conditions and discipline employees as they see fit even even when these workers form or join a union.

Therefore we sign in solidarity with public sector workers in N.C. and their fight to gain justice and the right to collectively bargain." - 12/09/2005
